Bratislava
400 km iz Šalovcev na Goričkem v Bratislavo je postala prava poletna klasika z vožnjo po Sloveniji, Madžerkem, Avstriji in Slovaški. Na prvi pogled izgleda daleč, a ni tako. Iz panonske ravnice vse do slovaške prestolnice Bratislave in nazaj. Le 1.620 višinskih metrov na 400 kilometrih pomeni hitro vožnjo po ravninah Madžarske po neprometnih cestah in nekaterih odličnih kolesarskih poteh. Brevet za ljubitelje dolgih, ravnih cest in vožnje v toplih poletnih nočeh.

Opis trase:
Štart bo v Šalovcih pred občinsko stavbo.
Po nekaj kilometrih bomo že na Madžarskem, kjer bomo kmalu prišli do kraja Szombathely. Tam je možnost oskrbe na bencinski črpalki, ki je odprta 24 ur. Do prve kontrolne točke v kraju Lövő nas čaka malo več kot 100 km po zanimivi pokrajini Madžarske.
Nadaljujemo proti Bratislavi in kmalu uživamo po lepih kolesarskih poteh. Vstopimo v Avstrijo in vozimo po njenih cestah ravno toliko, da začutimo utrip države in razliko z Madžarsko.
Od vstopa na Slovaško nas trasa do centra Bratislave vodi po kolesarski poti, vmes pa še prečkamo Donavo. Od tam je pogled na Bratislavo še posebej fascinanten, občutek pao prihodu v center glavnega mesta Slovaške pa izjemen. Do tu je ravno 200 km.
Predlagamo, da se tu za kratko ustavite in uživate v čudovitem Hviezdoslavovem trgu.
Vračamo se po isti poti.

Kulturne, naravne in ostale zanimivosti:
- 125,0 in 275,0 km: Fertőd (Madžarska) – dvorec Eszterházy. To je palača v, ki jo je zgradil princ Nikolaus Esterházy. Včasih imenovan “madžarski Versailles”, je največja rokokojska stavba na Madžarskem. Od leta 1766 do 1790 je bil dom Josepha Haydna in njegovega orkestra.
- 200,4 km: Bratislava, glavno mesto Slovaške z vsemi svoji naravnimi in kultirnimi znamenitostmi

Bratislava
400 km from Šalovci in Goričko to Bratislava has become a true summer classic, riding through Slovenia, Hungary, Austria and Slovakia. At first glance it looks far away, but it is not. From the Pannonian Plain all the way to the Slovak capital of Bratislava and back. Only 1,620 metres of elevation gain over 400 kilometres means fast riding across the flatlands of Hungary on quiet roads and some excellent cycling paths. A brevet for lovers of long, flat roads and riding through warm summer nights.
Special notice: There will be NO support or refreshments provided on this brevet!
Route description:
The start will be in Šalovci in front of the municipal building.
After a few kilometres we will already be in Hungary, where we will soon reach the town of Szombathely. There is a resupply option at the petrol station, which is open 24 hours a day. Until the first control point in the town of Lövő, a little more than 100 km of riding through the interesting Hungarian landscape awaits us.
We continue towards Bratislava and soon enjoy beautiful cycling paths. We enter Austria and ride on its roads just long enough to feel the pulse of the country and the difference compared to Hungary.
From the point where we enter Slovakia, the route to the centre of Bratislava follows a cycling path, and along the way we also cross the Danube. From there, the view of Bratislava is particularly fascinating, while the feeling upon arriving in the centre of the Slovak capital is exceptional. It is exactly 200 km to this point.
We suggest making a short stop here and enjoying the beautiful Hviezdoslav Square.
We return along the same route.

Cultural, natural and other points of interest:

Trasa je bila super, sploh nočna vožnja, katere sem se najbolj bal, je bila enkratna. Podnevi je bilo pa kar precej prometa, pa tudi asfalt na Madžarskem je precej slab. Generalno gledano pa enkratna izkušnja, najlepša hvala za organizacijo!!!

It was a very special experience!
I can tell that in 1999 when I had my very first bicycle tour outside of Hungary then it went to Slovenia through the Hodos – Salovci – Murska Sobota – Maribor route towards Istria. So I have nice memories already. And later on as part of the same tour in 1999 my first pass in the Alps was the Vrsic.
I always love to ride in Slovenia.
Next time, I plan to visit a BRM which is within Slovenia.

So first. thanks for the great organisation and the information about the route.
For me it was the first time that I took part in an 400km bike ranndoneur ride, so I was quiet nervous before the start.
Thanks to Andrej who explained the crucial parts of the course- the one and only open gas station during the night after 66km and the key points of proof of success.
At 21.30 we started as a pack of 11 riders. Some of us had a pizza beforehand to fuel our body for the next hours.
For me it was not only the first time riding 400km in one go, but also the first time to ride through the night. I normally just ride during the day, so i was curious about the upcoming track.
As we started we soon formed a line so we could use drag to our advantage. Due to the fact that it was a mostly flat route, the pace was high from the beginning and during our first stop at railroad tracks we noticed that the group had already split into two- where the 2nd group had their own tempo.
During the night time has its own ways of going bye- and after 2 1/2 hours and around 60 km i had a mechanical with my tire. With the help from a fellow rider, a pump and some superglue I was able to continue my way, and avoided a DNF. Where the other riders continue their race to the gas station which held precious water and sugary food in store.
After a short break at said station the first group continued their way up to the north through the city of szombathely and into the night. The different lights cut their way into the darkness, because there werent any streetslight at the countryside for quiet a while.
Our trip brought us through 4 countries in total- slovenia, hungary, austria and slovakia- each having one thing in common- mostly flat roads- so it was no surprise to be able to hold a high pace and manage to arrive in bratislava around 05.00am, looking for something to eat.
Some moderate intoxicated people tried to be helpful finding some open shop or place to refill our tired bodies.
In the end another gas station with good coffee and great baguette helped to lighten up our spirits and provided the energy to help us on our way back.
The group got smaller as some people decided to stay a little bit longer at said gas station. So four of the original 11 riders continued their way through the city of bratislava, the windparks of austria and the small towns of hungary.
We took advantage of the tailwind to enjoy a fast pace and great riding conditions. Our stops to refill at the supermarkets were short and the finish line came closer with each kilometer.
But the high pace took its toll- so the group shrank down to three for a short period of time. Due to another mechanical the original 4men group was reunited and we continued our way together to the gas station in szombathely from the night before.
Then it was time to part ways again and we split into 2 Duo Teams- pushing hard towards Salovci with only around 66 kilometers left.
For the last 2-3 hours my mind was locked in on finishing the set course. Only one short distraction on the map and we lost sight of the duo ahead of us.
Coming within the last 20km to the finish a new energy rush was released, helping push watts into the pedals.
Around 14:15 i was able to take the final picture at the finish line- having the proof of getting trough 400km of beautiful landscape in 4 different countries.
Thanks for all the friendly help, the kind words and the shared stories that made the nearly 16hours feel like an advanture that I look back at with a smile on my face.
